Farewell to Phil Jackson?

"All of my hopes and aspirations are that this is the final game that I will coach," Jackson told reporters after his Lakers were swept from the playoffs in a crushing 122-86 defeat to the Mavericks. Phil Jackson, who led the Chicago Bulls to six championships in the 1990s, and the Lakers to five since, the 65-year-old head coach is going retire after this season. What a pity that he can't win one more Final Champion before his retirement. The Lakers was swept away by the Mavericks with an embarrassing 4-0 in the semi-final.
Regardless of the loss, I am considering not to support Lakers in the future, because they didn't only lose the game, but also their sportsmanship. Artest and Bynum were ejected during Game 2 and Game 3 respectively due to their flagrant foul against JJ Barea, Maverick's PG. I am so disappointed by their actions. Hey! We can Lakers, we can lose a game but we don't lose our sportsmanship! Just try harder next year and don't play the dirty fouls!

  1. How unfortunate. It was a sad sad day for LA, wasn't it? It's bad enough that we couldn't continue on, but how classless and disgraceful were those moments?? Our team has such a history and has so many winning titles to let something like this happen.

I feel especially sorry for Phil Jackson, one of the greatest coaches in history. I'm more sad about seeing his very last season end this way than about Artest or Bynum. It would've been nice to give him that last ring to complete a set of a perfect dozen for sure.

  2. having been getting 11 titles, it's unfortunate that he could not end his career at a high point. The Mavericks beated the Lakers in their NBA Western Conference semifinals series. its so unfortunate that we could not continue to see his leadership. I am totally impressed by his leadership style and just hope Lakers could come back next season even without his guidance.
